Appeal the removal of a post (1)

  • Oversight BoardInternational service · specific conditions

Independent review of an eligible decision

A review does not guarantee reversal. Do not duplicate a submission while the same case is still awaiting a response.

    What to do
    1. Open Meta’s final post decision and find the reference ID. Without it, this route is unavailable.
    2. Choose Submit an Appeal on the Board’s site, sign in to your active account and submit within Meta’s stated deadline.
    3. Check Track Your Appeal. Submitting does not mean the Board will select the case.

For eligible content decisions only: requires an active account, Meta’s final decision and a Meta-issued reference ID. The Board selects a limited number of cases. If the account is disabled and you cannot log in, this route does not fit.

Access or protect personal data (1)

  • National Privacy Commission (NPC)Regional route · check eligibility

An affected individual may complain about a personal-data violation or breach; a representative needs a special power of attorney. For Meta or another foreign controller, identify the responsible entity and explain the Philippine connection: citizenship/residence, where processing occurred and the entity’s links to the Philippines. Foreign incorporation alone does not exclude the route, but jurisdiction and service require individual checking. An account suspension alone is not a privacy violation; NPC is not a general account-restoration appeal.

NPC handles personal-data rights complaints, for example when a company misuses your data. An account suspension alone does not establish a privacy violation. The affected person or an authorised representative can complain. The official procedure requires a completed, notarised complaint and supporting evidence. Account restoration is not guaranteed.

    What to do
    2. First notify the controller/processor in writing about the actual privacy violation; keep the notice, proof of receipt and reply. The prerequisite is no timely/appropriate action, or no response within 15 calendar days from its receipt of your written notice. This is not 15 days from suspension. NPC may waive prior contact for substantiated good cause or serious harm; explain and prove the reason, rather than assume an exemption.
    3. Use NPC’s current Complaint-Affidavit (March 2026 version when checked). Complete identities/contact details, data processed, dated facts, the privacy issue and requested relief. Attach government ID, relevant correspondence, screenshots/documents and witness affidavits where applicable. Complete the verification and certification against forum shopping and have the complaint notarised. Disclose related proceedings; never attach passwords or recovery codes.
    4. Published base filing fee: PHP500, plus a legal research fee of 1% of the filing fee (minimum PHP10). Damages claims and other applications can add charges; notarisation, delivery and foreign service may also cost money. Indigent exemption requires supporting documents, including barangay certification and sworn financial declarations; NPC may also waive fees for good cause on request. Obtain the applicable assessment, not an assumed all-in price.
    5. The filing page lists in-person filing, courier and a scanned notarised complaint sent to its official email link; the Rules also allow registered mail and authorised electronic filing. Follow the current NPC page for the destination and payment instructions, not an old address in a PDF. Keep originals and legible copies; NPC may request originals after email filing. Public pages and blank forms were read; no login or submission was tested.
    6. Keep the complete filing, payment/exemption evidence and receipt/reference. Monitor the filing email, including spam, for NPC orders and respond by each stated deadline; report address/email changes to NPC and the other parties within five calendar days of the change. An acknowledgement is not acceptance on the merits. Investigation or voluntary mediation may follow; account restoration is not guaranteed. If your complaint is dismissed or you receive a decision, read it promptly and check which reconsideration or court-appeal procedure applies and its deadline. These depend on the type of decision. Seek advice on your particular case rather than waiting for a reply about restoring your account.

Use the current Complaint-Affidavit on the NPC website. ClearRules does not collect your documents or file the complaint for you.

Does every country have an account-recovery route?

We have not confirmed that every country has an account-recovery process outside Meta. This directory covers the listed countries, with options for data, payments, harmful content and, where available, account restrictions and court claims. Several links do not mean several ways to restore an account. We state when no suitable option has been found.

The review covers the entries in this directory. It does not establish that every possible route has been found. An accessible page, an applicable procedure and a successful outcome are different things.

How to use this directory

Different bodies handle different issues. A refused data request, a payment dispute and an account appeal involve separate procedures. Choose the one that matches your situation. The body you contact decides whether to accept the case and what action to take.

Each card shows when its sources were researched. No real complaints were submitted.
