I tried to appeal, but nothing is happening. What next?
The short answer
First look for confirmation that the appeal was submitted: a message saying it is under review, a record of the request or an email. An error message alone does not confirm submission. If a review is pending, check the request for updates or requests for more information. A missing email alone does not mean the appeal failed to submit.
What this answer is based onWhat to do
“Could not submit”, “under review” and “decision upheld” call for different next steps. Save the exact message so you can choose the right help.
- Note the account, date, exact message and any case number. Open the existing request or decision notice; check whether Meta is waiting for an action from you.
- If submission failed, save a screenshot with codes and passwords hidden. Try the latest app version and the official website on a familiar device, keeping any working session open. Retry the step if the screen allows it. If a waiting period is shown, wait until it ends.
- If the request was accepted, check its message and stated reply channel. Provide requested information through that process. If a reply thread is available, you can ask for an update with the case number and date.
- For a technical error, use the available reporting option and describe the steps that trigger it. After a final rejection, check the decision for any further options. If you are still waiting for a response, check which other support channels or options in your country apply to your case. A bug report or a new subscription does not guarantee a review.
If the usual steps did not help
When this guide helps: Use this after attempting an appeal when submission fails, a review is pending or the decision arrives without a clear next step.
When you need a different route: If no decision or appeal exists yet, begin with the original account or content problem. A support conversation and a formal appeal may be different records.
Choose what is happening in your case
An error appeared and submission is unconfirmed
Check for an existing request before retrying. Save the error, update the official app and try an available official web route on a familiar device. Keep working sessions; respect any displayed waiting period. Report reproducible technical failure if that option exists.
Next step: The app crashes or the feed will not loadIt says “under review”, with no new request
Keep the confirmation and check the stated response channel, including spam if email is named. If a replyable case is available and the stated estimate has passed, ask for an update with its number and date. No email alone does not prove failure.
Next step: How to contact Instagram and Facebook supportThe decision says no further internal review
Save the final wording and earlier case history. Check the country-specific information for your decision and actual location before considering an external route. Eligibility differs; a general complaint page does not establish that your case qualifies.
Choose a country genuinely connected to your case. Each recipient has its own requirements.
Check complaint options by countryWhat to prepare
- Keep the account name, case number if issued, submission time, exact message and a screenshot without passwords or codes.
- Check the original notice for an appeal deadline and the request for its reply channel. Keep these separate from any estimated review time.
Put screenshots in one archive
Organise screenshot copies and notes for your records. Keep originals separately. Send the recipient only necessary files in an accepted format.
Put screenshots in one archiveImportant: Do not treat a long wait as rejection or a bug report as an appeal. Repeated unrelated requests, new paid subscriptions and “inside contacts” do not guarantee review.
Sources and verification limits
Checked:
Read Meta’s public support article, including its March 2026 update, and official indexed Help excerpts. The state-by-state checklist is practical guidance. No private case, submission, response-time guarantee or external eligibility was tested.

How to check the result
You have the actual decision and have checked access to each affected account or asset. A receipt, identity approval or favorable external decision alone does not restore access.
Check what actually happened. Opening a link, saving a draft or receiving a receipt does not complete the case.
The situation
After you tap Submit, a loading indicator appears, followed by an error. The next day, there is still no response. First check whether the request was recorded. If there is no record, save the error message and start by troubleshooting submission.
More examples
“It says under review, but no email arrived”
The app shows a pending request, but your inbox is empty.
What to do
Save a screenshot and check where the request says to expect a reply. If it names email, check the correct inbox and spam folder. When the status is under review, a missing email alone does not call for a new appeal.
“The estimate in the notice has passed”
Submission was confirmed, but there is no new message.
What to do
Check whether more information has been requested. If the case allows replies, include its number and date and ask for an update. If you cannot reply, check the contact options below for one that fits your case.
