Practical guide

I need Facebook, but the apps and names are confusing. What do I open?

A ClearRules guidePublished: Updated: How we prepare guides

The short answer

Use facebook.com for your profile and feed, Marketplace for buying and selling, Messenger for conversations and Meta Business Suite to manage a Page. Direct links are below. ClearRules is not a Facebook sign-in page.

What to do

One unavailable section does not always mean your whole account is blocked. First identify exactly what you cannot open.

  1. Choose your task below. Facebook opens the main site; Marketplace opens listings; Messages opens browser conversations; Page and business opens management tools.
  2. If Meta asks you to sign in, use your own account on its site or official app. On Android, Facebook Lite is a separate, smaller app; its store link is in the sources. Install it only if Google Play offers it for your device.
  3. Wrong Page, or no Page in the list? Check the selected profile and your permissions. If you cannot sign in at all, start with login help. If only Marketplace is unavailable, use the Marketplace guide.

Which situation applies to you?

I need Facebook Lite for Android

Open Meta’s official Google Play listing. The store shows availability for your device and country. Do not enter passwords on sites offering random installers.

My profile and feed

Start with the main Facebook website and sign in there. If your password or code does not work, use the linked login guide.

Open Facebook
Buy or sell an item

Open Marketplace. If Meta denies access, keep the message and use the related Marketplace-access guide.

Open Marketplace
Messages on a computer

This opens Facebook messages. On a phone you can use the official Messenger app; its store listing is in the sources.

Open messages
Manage a Page or business

Open Meta’s business tools and select the Page or business. If it is missing, check your profile and granted permissions.

The situation

Illustrative example

“I want to sell a bicycle.” Open Marketplace. Signing into Facebook does not guarantee selling access: if Marketplace refuses access, open its troubleshooting guide.

More examples

Reply to a friend on a computer

“I searched for Messenger and found lots of sites and installers.”

What to do

Choose Messages below to open facebook.com/messages. On a phone, use the official Messenger app. Advice to download a separate desktop app may be out of date.

Open your shop’s Page

“The instructions say Business Manager, but I just need to answer a customer as my shop.”

What to do

Open Meta Business Suite and select the Page. Business Manager is used to manage Pages, ad accounts and access to them. If the Page is missing, check your permissions with its administrator.
