I see a blank screen after login. Is this definitely a ban?

A ClearRules guideUpdated: How we prepare guides

The short answer

A blank screen doesn’t establish the cause. In a support request, separate the error you can see from an assumed ban.

What this answer is based on

What to do

Which platform?

  1. Note which action leads to the blank screen. Is there a suspension notice, code request or another error before it? Save the exact wording.

  2. Try another official sign-in route: if the app fails, try the website on a familiar device. Keep any session where the account still works.

  3. Choose the next route based on the message: suspension needs review guidance; an unauthorised email change needs hacked-account recovery; a second code needs two-factor help.

Have ready: A screenshot, device model, app version and the steps that trigger the error.

Open the official guidance

Opens www.facebook.com · New tab

Example message

Replace the prompts in brackets with the facts of your case. Use the text in a description field or chat, if available. ClearRules does not send anything.

Edit directly here. Changes are not saved after you close the page.

If this step did not help

If both routes show the same error, keep it with the date. If a working session lets you report a technical problem, include those details.

What else you can do

Choose an option that fits your circumstances.

Send a bug report

A button is broken, a screen freezes or a feature fails.

Requires access to the app menu. A bug report is not an appeal.

How to contact them and what to prepare

Have these ready

A screenshot, device model, app version and the steps that trigger the error.

What to do

  1. Open the menu, Help & support, then Report a problem.
  2. Explain how to reproduce the issue and add a screenshot. Remove passwords, codes and other people’s personal details.
Open Meta’s instructions

If it does not work

If the button is missing, save the exact notice and check the same account in the app and a browser. Use Report a problem for a broken interface; it does not replace an appeal.

Example message

Replace the prompts in brackets with the facts of your case. Use the text in a description field or chat, if available. ClearRules does not send anything.

All contact options for this situation
An everyday example

“I enter my password, see the logo, then a grey screen with no text.” That screen alone does not explain the cause. Compare the app and official website before choosing a recovery route.

Buttons and available options may vary. Follow the message shown in your account.

If the usual steps did not help

When this guide helps: Use this when sign-in leads to a grey, white or blank screen without a readable decision, or keeps loading before you can tell which recovery step is needed.

When you need a different route: A blank screen alone cannot prove a ban, a hack or an outage. An explicit suspension, identity request or second-code prompt needs the corresponding route.

Choose what is happening in your case

The official website works but the app does not, or the reverse.

Keep the route that works. Update the affected app or browser from its official source and try again without clearing the working session. Record the difference; it helps isolate the failing surface but does not prove the underlying cause.

Next step: The app crashes or the feed will not load
Both routes fail without a clear notice.

On a familiar device, record the same sequence once in each available official route. If a working session offers a technical-report option, include the sequence and screenshot. A report option or human reply is not guaranteed.

Next step: How to contact Instagram and Facebook support
You reach a link, code or identity step before the blank screen.

Record which step succeeds and which transition fails. Keep any submission confirmation. Route the problem by that last visible prompt instead of sending an appeal that assumes a violation.

Next step: Account recovery is stuck at a link, code or identity check
A readable suspension notice appears on another screen.

Keep its exact reason, date and available review options. Use the suspension route for that decision. Technical troubleshooting can help display the notice, but cannot reverse the decision itself.

Next step: My account is suspended. Where do I start?
What to prepare
  • Record the last button pressed, approximate start time, device and app/browser version.
  • Keep a redacted screenshot and note whether another session still opens the same profile.

Important: Do not delete app data, clear cookies or sign out of your only usable session as a first test. Never install a modified app advertised as a way around a lock.

Sources and verification limits

Checked:

Read Meta’s public support update and official Instagram suspension text available in search. Technical-report Help pages could not be read directly. The comparisons are conservative troubleshooting, not a tested diagnosis; no bug report or account action was submitted.

The situation

Illustrative example

You enter your Facebook password. A grey screen appears instead of your profile, with no violation notice or appeal button. You cannot tell whether this is an account restriction or a technical problem.
