How do I recover access to my Facebook Page?

A ClearRules guidePublished: Updated: How we prepare guides

The short answer

Check that you are signed in to the personal profile that was given access. If someone else still has full control of the Page, ask them to check and restore your permissions. If access was lost after a hack, use the hacked-Page recovery guide. For a dispute with a former administrator, first find out who still has management access.

What to do

Ask someone with full control to grant access to your profile; you do not need a colleague’s password. Permission to publish posts does not necessarily include permission to change administrators.

  1. Open Facebook and check which personal profile is selected. Then check whether the Page is available in Meta Business Suite. Save its URL and the date you lost access. If you can open the Page settings, check Page access. Task access through business tools differs from Facebook access: task access does not let you switch into the Page on Facebook.
  2. Does someone else have full control? Ask them to open access settings and check your profile. If your personal Facebook password or email was changed without you, start recovering that account first. Then check Page permissions separately.
  3. If management was lost after a hack, open official hacked-Page Help below. Prepare the Page URL, change notifications and information about your previous management. Submit only what the available process requests. Keep a case number if provided.

Which situation applies to you?

Someone else has full control

Ask them to check your profile in access settings and grant the permissions you need. You do not need their password.

How to change access
Access was lost after an administrator was hacked

This Meta form is for recovering Page access lost after an administrator was hacked. You may need to sign in. We have not checked which fields or submission options are available. It does not cover an agency dispute without a hack.

Open Page recovery form
I cannot sign into my personal Facebook

Restore personal-profile access first. Then check Page permissions separately.

Login help
I need to release the Page from a business account

Check eligibility first: existing full Page access is required. If you were removed from management, this does not replace recovering access.

Check Page release requirements

If the usual steps did not help

When this guide helps: Use this when a Facebook Page still exists but you cannot manage it, change access or switch into it.

When you need a different route: A Page restriction notice, disabled personal account or rejected ad is a different decision.

Choose what is happening in your case

Business Suite works, but you cannot switch into the Page

Check your access type before starting recovery. Task access can allow business-tool work without switching into the Page on Facebook. If you need additional permissions, ask a trusted full-control manager to review the exact access required.

Another trusted person still has full control

Confirm you are using the personal profile that should receive access. Ask that person to check Page access and grant the needed role to your profile. Accept the invitation through Facebook if one appears, then verify your own access before removing any existing manager.

Unknown posts or access changes followed a suspicious login

Secure the personal account and email, then use official hacked-Page Help. Keep evidence of your previous management and unauthorized changes; provide only what the process requests. Getting the personal account back does not automatically restore Page permissions.

Next step: Your account was hacked and the email changed
An agency or former employee holds access; no hack is evident

Identify who can grant access and request a normal handover. Business ownership release is a separate process, not a substitute for missing admin access. If nobody can cooperate, check support options available to your business and the evidence they actually request.

Next step: How to contact Instagram and Facebook support
What to prepare
  • Keep the Page URL, your personal profile URL and the date access changed. Note any business portfolio shown and which tool still works.
  • Keep genuine access-change notices and identify a trusted person who may still have full control. Do not collect colleagues’ passwords.

Important: Never grant full control to a recovery seller: that person could remove you or delete the Page. Do not call an ordinary management dispute a hack to fit a form.

Sources and verification limits

Checked:

Reviewed official indexed text about Page access types, permission management and hacked-account recovery. Detailed hacked-Page and ownership-release pages redirected to login. No Page access, business support availability, required document list or transfer was tested.

How to check the result

Using your own profile, you can perform the required task on the intended Page with the granted permission. A sent invitation, portfolio release or restored personal login is not enough.

Check what actually happened. Opening a link, saving a draft or receiving a receipt does not complete the case.

The situation

Illustrative example

You own a bakery. After changing social media staff, the Page disappears from your menu. The director can still see access settings. Ask them to check which profile is listed and its permissions, then grant you the access you need. Hacked-account recovery is not the first step here.

More examples

“Strange posts appeared and I was removed”

Earlier you received a notice of a login you did not make.

What to do

Secure your personal Facebook and use hacked-Page Help. Keep the notices. Recovering the personal profile does not guarantee automatic restoration of Page access.

“The agency no longer works with us”

The agency retains permissions or the business portfolio; there are no signs of a hack.

What to do

Find out who can grant you access. Removing a Page from the agency’s business account is a separate process with requirements, including already having full Page access. If your admin access was removed, you may not qualify for that process.
