How do I keep an important Instagram message within reach?
The short answer
Hold the message and choose Pin, if available. Meta describes a limit of three pinned messages in each individual or group conversation. Pinning a message is different from pinning the entire chat in your inbox.
What this answer is based onWhat to do
Choose a current address, time or agreement. If it has changed, write a clear correction before pinning anything.
- Open the intended conversation and find the message with the current address. Read the whole message before giving it a prominent position.
- Hold the message, choose Pin and check that it appears at the top of that conversation. Moving the whole chat up your inbox is a different action.
- When plans change, hold the old pinned message and choose Unpin. Write the correction, pin the current message and ask people to acknowledge an important change.
The situation
Example: a café address has disappeared among photos in a group chat. The meeting has moved, so you want people to find the new address rather than the old one.
The situation and an improvement
Keep forwarding an old address without checking it.
Pin the current address and remove the obsolete pin.
