How can I reset Instagram recommendations when I dislike my feed?

A ClearRules guidePublished: Updated: How we prepare guides

The short answer

If a reset is available, look in Content preferences. It changes what is recommended for you to watch, not the reach of your own posts.

What to do

Before resetting, decide whether the whole selection needs changing or just a few accounts bother you.

  1. Open Content preferences and look for Reset suggested content. If it is missing, check the official Help information for the options available to you.
  2. Read the explanation before resetting. Review your following list too: some unwanted material may come from accounts you chose.
  3. After the change, engage with things you actually want to see. Recommendations will gradually reflect your activity again.
  4. The reset covers recommendations in Explore, Reels and Feed. If you only want fewer suggestions on a particular subject, or cannot find the reset, look for Not interested in a suggested post’s menu. The Following feed is another option for viewing posts from accounts you follow in time order.

The situation

Illustrative example

You spent a few evenings watching renovation videos, and now your feed is full of tiles, doors and kitchens. The work is finished, but the recommendations have stayed the same. You want to see more travel and music again.
