Can I stop seeing someone’s Facebook posts for a while without removing them as a friend?
The short answer
Snooze, where available, hides a person’s, Page’s or group’s posts from your feed for 30 days. Meta says you can undo it and the person, Page or group is not notified. It changes what appears in your feed; it does not block or report anyone, or change who can see your posts.
What this answer is based onWhat to do
Decide whose posts you want to hide. On a shared post, read the name beside Snooze carefully: it may refer to the person sharing the post rather than its original author.
- Open a post’s menu in your feed and look for Snooze, or the equivalent option mentioning 30 days. Check the named person, Page or group. If the option is missing, consult official Help; Unfriend, Block and Report do different things.
- Apply Snooze to the name you intended and read the confirmation. Check that it pauses their posts, rather than hides only this one post. Note when you enabled it if you need to keep track of the 30 days.
- To see the posts again sooner, look for the available Snooze settings or undo option and cancel it. Meta confirms that Snooze can be reversed, but the exact route may vary. If messages or other unwanted contact continue, deal with those separately using the relevant settings.
The situation
Example: a friend posts dozens of holiday photos every day. You want a short break, not an argument or the end of a friendship. You choose a 30-day pause for that friend’s posts.
The situation and an improvement
Remove a friend or report harmless posts just to get a quieter feed.
Pause their posts for a while, then decide separately whether to change contact or privacy settings.
More examples
You paused the wrong person’s posts
A shared post showed two names and you selected the wrong one.
What to do
Undo Snooze using the available control, then check the name before trying again.
Messages still arrive
The person you snoozed continues to message you.
What to do
Snooze affects the feed, not Messenger. Review the relevant Messenger controls if you also want to change who can contact you.
