Can I make my shop look like another brand’s official website?
The short answer
Customers are shown one seller while another takes their money. Meta describes detecting a scam site that copied a well-known shop. The issue includes who the seller pretends to be, not just what product is listed.
What this answer is based onWhat to do
Use your shop’s own identity and explain your actual role. Remove claims of an official relationship you do not have, along with presentation that implies one. Do not launch an offer you cannot fulfil.
- Follow the customer’s path through the ad, profile, website and payment. Is it clear who receives the money at every stage?
- Remove false claims such as “official” or “direct from the manufacturer”. Check logo and photo permissions separately.
- Check stock, the final price, delivery and contact details. If you cannot supply the product, stop the sale.
The situation
A seller runs an “Official clearance sale” ad with a well-known sports retailer’s logo. The link opens the seller’s own shop, styled to match that retailer. There is no agreement with the brand, but customers see its name right through to payment.
The situation and an improvement
Another retailer’s logo and “Official clearance sale”, without any relationship to that retailer.
Your own shop name and design: “Independent sports retailer. Available models, final prices and delivery terms are shown on each product page.” Only if accurate.
