How can I send a clearer photo in Messenger?
The short answer
If the photo picker offers an HD switch, enable it before sending. First inspect the original, though: a sending option cannot restore detail that was missing from the picture.
What this answer is based onWhat to do
Use the original from your gallery rather than a screenshot of a small preview. Choose a picture without private information for your test.
- Open the original in your gallery and enlarge the relevant part. If the lettering is already unreadable, take another picture in good light; changing the sending quality cannot recover missing detail.
- Select that photo in the intended chat. If HD is available, turn it on and check the recipient before sending. This is the sequence Meta describes; controls may look different in your version.
- Open the sent picture fully rather than judging its thumbnail. Compare the same area with the original and ask the recipient to check readability. If HD is missing, check for an app update; an update does not guarantee the switch will appear.
The situation
Example: you send a friend a photograph of a timetable. The lettering looks readable on your phone but small and fuzzy in the chat.
The situation and an improvement
Keep forwarding the same blurry copy.
Inspect the original and compare one fresh send using the available HD option.
More examples
The original is blurred too
The text is difficult to read before you send it.
What to do
Retake the photograph instead of trying to repair the original blur by forwarding it.
The recipient needs a print file
A readable preview is not enough for the intended use.
What to do
Agree how to transfer the original file and check its properties after receipt; an HD label alone is insufficient.
