How do I organise group-chat photos into an album?
The short answer
If shared albums are available in your group, select the pictures and create one. It saves hunting through messages, but you are not its only editor: Meta says everyone in the chat can view, add, delete and download album photos and videos.
What this answer is based onWhat to do
Choose pictures you are happy to share with the whole group. Keep the originals somewhere separate.
- Open the intended group chat and check who is in it. Select pictures meant for the whole group; leave photographs of documents and other private material out of the collection.
- Select several photos in the message composer and choose Create album if offered. Meta also describes holding down a photo in the chat to create an album. Use Add to album when the collection already exists.
- Tap the group name, open Media and find the album. Check the pictures and ask one participant to find it the same way. Keep important originals separately from the shared chat.
The situation
Example: everyone posts a few photographs after a family trip. A week later, finding one particular picture means scrolling through hundreds of messages.
The situation and an improvement
Send the same pictures again whenever someone loses track of them.
Build one shared collection and show the group where to find it.
More examples
Only one person should make changes
You need a collection with a single editor.
What to do
Choose another sharing method with suitable permissions; the album Meta describes is managed jointly.
No creation button
You can see the pictures but no option to make an album.
What to do
Check for an app update. Meanwhile, agree on another place for the collection; reinstalling does not guarantee the button will appear.
