Appeal an account restriction (11)

  • Appeals Centre EuropeRegional route · check eligibility

Independent review of an eligible decision

This is a short eligibility check, not confirmation that your case will be accepted or your account restored. Read the full rules and check ACE’s current information before submitting.

    What to do

    Check ACE’s requirements

    • You are located in an EU member state and are at least 16.
    • The platform decision was made within the last six months. Check the date of that decision.
    • Submissions and correspondence are accepted in English, French, German, Spanish, Italian, Polish or Dutch. This is separate from the language of the disputed content.
    • An account, Page or group restriction must require reviewing one or more pieces of content. Being unable to sign in alone does not make a case eligible.

An internal Meta appeal is encouraged, but you do not have to file one or wait for its result before contacting ACE. If you have appealed, keep that information.

    Which cases are outside scope
    • Impersonating another person, brand or organisation; account removals based on minimum age; identity-verification requests and outcomes.
    • Hacked or compromised access; behaviour-only decisions; suspension solely through linkage to another suspended account; technical or automated spam.
    • Content removals based on copyright or other intellectual-property claims; suspected sharing of child sexual abuse material (CSAM). Check ACE’s rules separately for other CSE categories.
    • Check the restrictions if the same dispute is already before another out-of-court dispute body or a competent court. That is different from an internal Meta appeal.

This is a short eligibility check, not confirmation that your case will be accepted or your account restored. Read the full rules and check ACE’s current information before submitting.

    3. If you submit a dispute, keep its confirmation and reference. Reply within the same case and do not create a duplicate ACE submission.

ACE covers content decisions and related account, page and group restrictions on Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, Google Maps, Pinterest and Threads. No explanation or way to appeal (1)

  • ACMLocal body or procedure

    Complaint about DSA compliance

The coordinator oversees DSA compliance and may forward the complaint to the competent body. This is not an individual appeal on the merits of a restriction or a promise of recovery.

This route concerns data rights. Being unable to log in does not by itself prove a breach: this is not an account-recovery service. Investigations and remedies depend on local law.

    What to do
    1. Write to the seller: what you paid for, what went wrong and what remedy you want. Keep the reply.
    2. Check whether the local body accepts disputes with that seller. Give the facts and amount, and attach the receipt.

  • Rechtspraak — civil claims and urgent kanton proceedingsRegional route · check eligibility

Dutch civil-court guidance for ordinary cases and genuinely urgent provisional proceedings. A platform claim needs individual legal and jurisdiction assessment; the €25,000 kanton money-claim threshold does not resolve non-monetary account claims.

Dutch residence does not settle every jurisdiction question. Check the correct contracting defendant, cross-border service and competent court first. A kort geding requires genuine urgency and yields provisional relief; factual uncertainty or lack of urgency can defeat it. Losing can mean paying some of Meta’s litigation costs. A lawyer is optional in kanton proceedings, but other court procedures can have different representation rules. The €25,000 national court-allocation rule is separate from the €5,000 European Small Claims limit. The official July 2026 Meta account case found in indexed judgment text refused urgent relief; it does not establish eligibility or success for another case.

    What to do
    1. Get advice on the legal claim, competent Dutch court, defendant and service in Ireland; decide between an ordinary case and genuinely urgent proceedings.
    2. Prepare a summons explaining the facts, remedy and supporting evidence. For urgent proceedings, explain and document why waiting is unacceptable.
    3. For a kort geding, use the official request form linked from the urgent-procedure page to request a hearing date; follow that court’s instructions.
    4. Arrange service through a bailiff and lodge the served summons as instructed. Cross-border service needs case-specific handling.
    5. Pay the applicable court fee, respond to court directions, and attend any hearing. The case may end in settlement or a judgment.

Assess the legal claim, competent Dutch court, correct defendant and cross-border service. Kanton money jurisdiction generally extends to €25,000 plus specified subjects; non-monetary account claims require individual assessment. Kort geding requires evidenced urgency. A lawyer is optional at kanton level, but other procedures differ.

Consider a court claim (2)

  • European Small Claims ProcedureRegional route · check eligibility

    Hearing an eligible court claim

Small claims often concern monetary claims. The court may not have power to order account restoration. Consider fees, costs, deadlines, contract terms and local rules.

    What to do
    1. Read your region’s court rules. Check jurisdiction, claim limits and available remedies.
    2. Identify the correct defendant and service procedure. Prepare a timeline, evidence and an amount based on documented losses.
    3. Check required pre-action steps and fees. Use the court’s own form; this guide is not a court filing.

For eligible cross-border civil and commercial claims up to €5,000; Denmark does not participate. Use Form A. Check jurisdiction, court language, fees and the remedy separately. Completing a form online does not necessarily file it electronically with the court.

Does every country have an account-recovery route?

We have not confirmed that every country has an account-recovery process outside Meta. This directory covers the listed countries, with options for data, payments, harmful content and, where available, account restrictions and court claims. Several links do not mean several ways to restore an account. We state when no suitable option has been found.

The review covers the entries in this directory. It does not establish that every possible route has been found. An accessible page, an applicable procedure and a successful outcome are different things.

How to use this directory

Different bodies handle different issues. A refused data request, a payment dispute and an account appeal involve separate procedures. Choose the one that matches your situation. The body you contact decides whether to accept the case and what action to take.

Each card shows when its sources were researched. No real complaints were submitted.
