Will buying followers and comments help a Facebook Page grow?

A ClearRules guidePublished: Updated: How we prepare guides

The short answer

Meta describes measures against fake engagement: making coordinated inauthentic comments less visible and removing fake Pages used to inflate reach. Purchased reactions do not become genuine customer interest.

What this answer is based on

What to do

Decline packages promising fixed numbers of followers and comments. Give the next post a useful purpose for customers: a new flavour, opening hours or pre-orders. Look at real enquiries and orders alongside the headline count.

  1. Ask what is being sold: help reaching a real audience, or a fixed number of reactions from accounts you know nothing about.
  2. If you have already ordered a package, stop further artificial activity and check whether you gave the service Page access.
  3. Record genuine enquiries and orders over the next period. Use those to assess usefulness without promises to “reset the algorithm”.

The situation

Illustrative example

A bakery owner receives an offer: “1,000 followers and 100 comments by tonight.” Identical “Great post!” comments appear under a croissant photo. The numbers rise, but nobody asks about prices, opening times or where the bakery is.

The situation and an improvement

What causes the issue

“We need 100 comments on every post so the Page looks busy. It doesn’t matter what they say.”

A more accurate version

“Show the new croissant, its price and when it comes out of the oven. Answer questions about ingredients and availability in the comments.”
