Why can a post stay on my profile but reach few new people?

A ClearRules guidePublished: Updated: How we prepare guides

The short answer

Meta distinguishes permission to post from recommendation eligibility. Some sensitive material can remain available without appearing in recommendation spaces.

What to do

One view count cannot tell you whether an account is restricted. For a broad audience, explain the procedure clearly without unnecessary close-ups. Check whether each shot is appropriate and follows the relevant rules.

  1. Separate two questions: whether you have a removal or restriction notice, and how this particular post is being distributed.
  2. Watch as someone who does not know you: what appears in the first seconds, and why should they see it?
  3. For a new version, explain using a model or diagram. Review the entire video, not just its cover.

The situation

Illustrative example

A creator explains a cosmetic procedure. The opening shot is a close-up of skin being pierced, followed by aftercare information. The post stays online but reaches few new people. The creator wants to know whether recommendations are restricted or there is a technical problem.

The situation and an improvement

What causes the issue

Opening shot: a close-up of skin being pierced. Caption: “Watch how it is done.”

A more accurate version

Opening shot: the practitioner with a diagram. Caption: “What to discuss before the procedure and which questions to ask.” The video itself is also reworked as an explanation.
